Course
News Flash: Sunday, September 11, 2011
The 2011 Bellingham Traverse course has been changed. Please see each individual leg page for details. If you're wondering why this information wasn't made available sooner, is because "we" just made it up.
Course changes
Start- Beer Garden in front of Boundary.
Run- New Finish: horse parking lot at Padden (instead of by tennis courts)
Mountain Bike- New Start: Horse parking lot (instead of by tennis courts)
Road Bike- (19 mi.) New Finish: 6th and Harris (Cascade Joinery)
Trail Run- (3.2 mi) New Start: 6th and Harris (Cascade Joinery)
New Course: Run up the Padden Creek Greenway towards Fairhaven Park. Take a right into the park and run along the eastern edge of the park, heading south towards the big green dumpster at the top turnaround area. Go past the dumpster (like in years previous) into the woods, you will find the course marked with our arrows. We've been told that the "homeless guy that sabotaged the course last year" has left town (see "Mia Culpa" paragraph in 2010 Wrap Up) so you should be able to see what the course looks like during the week. It will be even better marked during the Traverse.
Paddle- 5:00 cut off time.
Soloists: You must be in the water by 5:00. period. Teams: If your teammate from the Trail Run is not there by 5:00- the paddler starts the leg.
TREK- Our volunteers are there to help you get you and your boats out of the water. It is up to you and your teammates to get your boat over to the parking lot / grassy area. This way you will know where it is when you come back to pick it up. Boats must be picked up by 6:30.
Finish- There will be a beer garden at the Finish Line on Railroad Ave.
